A teller of tales, singer of songs and painter of pictures. Phoenix Mendoza exudes the same singer-songwriter/artist vibe that came to define Laurel canyon in the early 70’s.
With thousands of miles traveled, thousands of shows played and hundreds of songs written - Mendoza has been chasing dreams for most of his life. Making his way from bars to stadiums in 7 countries and counting. Over the course of his journey, he became a masterful storyteller, sharing tales born of a lifetime on the road, a life spent dedicated to the pursuit of conveying intimate human experiences, in a profoundly accessible way.The songs are a dazzling display of intricate guitar work and soothing, velvet vocals. Accented with vulnerable lyrics that flow as naturally as a conversation. They speak of lands traveled, lessons learned, love gained, love lost and life lived. Sharing a common thread of truth that can only be found in the universal language that is music.
His paintings are oil on canvas and have as much of a story as the songs themselves. Some of which are included in handwritten letters attached to the back of the canvases. A majority of those paintings are auctioned off at live shows. Each one specifically created for an individual performance. Phoenix Mendoza lives in every moment of every song he sings. Most of them are true stories... and if you ever have the chance to see him live, you will learn their origin in poetic detail. He isn’t afraid to tell his truth. Whether it be in a story, a song or on a canvas.
...his sensational voice gives us incredible melodies and unique harmonies in which we are honored of being able to have contact with an artist of enormous talent.

The atmospheric pop energy of this track really makes it feel powerful.
-Ear to the Ground Music on "Nursery Lie"
Hearing Jon’s song "Rest" live for the first time struck me to consider the areas of my life that I needed to seek healing and rest in. It was the start of my journey toward finding rest in Christ for my past. I am beyond thankful for Jon’s example of vulnerability in sharing his life and music.
